Pilot walks away from plane crash
| by Hope Young - posted Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 @ 3:30 pm | |
Around 2:30 p.m. Friday Justin Rials was at home when he heard Shane Hutto's cropduster making crackling sounds overhead. Hutto was dusting some of Rials' 260 acres of cotton just west of Wisner and had been at it since that morning.
"I could hear it spitting and sputtering," Rials said as he stood on a muddy turn row beside a cotton field. "I knew something was wrong, but I couldn't tell what was going on." Then there was silence. Hutto's motor had gone out.
Rials rode a four wheeler to his own field and didn't see anything. When he went to his neighbor's field he saw Hutto's plane upside down about 50 feet from the turn row.
Miraculously, Hutto was able to walk away from the crash. |
